Bordeaux

The 57 appellations of the Bordeaux vineyard split in 3 large AOP families which draw the production areas. These AOPs are also meant to guarantee the quality and the personality of the wine.

- The first family are composed of the REGIONAL appellations: their border match the administrative « departement » border : Bordeaux rouge, Bordeaux blanc, Bordeaux rosé, Bordeaux clairet and, to a certain extent Bordeaux Supérieur rouge ou blanc.

- The second family is the SUBREGIONAL appellations related to areas such as Entre Deux mers, Graves, Medoc, or districts such as Cotes de Blayes.

- The  third family is composed of the COMMUNAL appellations – villages appellations. They are related to the villages of production, such as Margaux, Saint estèphe, Pauillac

Located on the 45th parallel, half way between the North Pole and the Equator, Bordeaux enjoys a tempered oceanic climate.
