The Medoc vineyard was completed around 1760. Medoc is a peninsula between the Gironde River and the Atlantic Ocean, north of Bordeaux. The Vineyard is located on a strip of land of 80 km by 10km, along the Gironde River. During the 12th century, under the English administration, appeared in Bordeaux the first “bourgeois”. This group of people had privileges, in particular a tax exemption on the wines produced on their estate. In the 15th century, when this region returned to the French Kingdom, the “Bourgeois” kept the rights for bearing a sword and being Landlords. These rich businessmen could then buy the best land in Medoc, which were given the name “Cru des Bourgeois” and then “Cru Bourgeois”.
