Graves 2016 Red AOP Graves

Graves 2016 Red  - Château Le Pas du Vent

  • AOP Graves
  • Domain: Château Le Pas du Vent
  • Grape variety: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot

The GRAVES AOP area stretches along the Garonne River, south-east of the Bordeaux city, on 3600 hectares, 2/3rd of Which producing red wines , and 1/3rd for the whites split between white dry Graves AOP (32 000 hl) and Graves Superieur AOP (11 000 hl). Dry white wines of Graves give aromas of flowers and citrus fruits with sometimes exotic or menthol notes. Oak aging, very frequent nowadays, gives to the wines, after a few years, richness and complexity.

The name -GRAVES- comes from the poor soils covered with gravels which give back at night the heat of the sunshine stored during the day. It is said that the Graves vineyard is the oldest of the Bordeaux region. Vines were planted 2000 years ago. One of the vineyards still bears the name of the roman god of the vine: Liber Pater.

Situated 20 km southeast of Bordeaux, on a village named Ayguemorte les Graves, this 3 hectares estate spreads on a sand and gravel soil.
